Traverse City Middle School and High School build on the foundation laid in earlier grades to value each individual as an image-bearer of God, created with unique gifts and abilities. We seek to prepare students for life as members of a Christian community in a fallen world, and therefore we strive to develop a school community where faculty, students and parents alike interact with each other in ways that affirm one another and exhibit God’s love and grace.
Traverse City Christian Middle School is comprised of Grades 6-8. The Middle School introduces students to a greater level of independence and responsibility than they experienced in elementary school. Different classrooms, a variety of teachers and a growing expectation of self-discipline are all part of the middle school environment. New students are assigned big brothers or big sisters from among the upperclassmen to help them find their way and incorporate into the larger school community. The Middle School and High School are housed in the same building, with all the grades sharing lunch hour, a weekly chapel service, and various all-school activities.
The High School is comprised of Grades 9-12, years during which a tremendous amount of growth occurs and a deepening level of thinking develops. Students delve more deeply into subject areas and are challenged to evaluate and critique material from a distinctively Christian worldview. Bible classes include Logic, Biblical Defense, Understanding the Times, Theology and Apologetics. As students move through the academic curriculum, they are encouraged to grow personally, intellectually, spiritually and emotionally. Our goal is to graduate students who have begun to develop a comprehensive, biblically-shaped worldview and who are motivated to use their gifts and abilities for service and work in God’s world.
